Outreach and Respite Services graphic with butterfly

From its modest beginnings a few years ago, our Outreach program has grown with demand. Community Venture now provides over 800 hours of specialized support each month.

Outreach workers take members out into the community for recreational activities. In addition, outreach hours may be used for bus training, or to give prospective residential members a chance to get to know each other in a fun and supported setting. Another exciting development is group outreach nights, which include cooking and literacy classes as well as fun activities like karaoke and floor hockey.

The Outreach program also provides respite to families and caregivers, either by taking members out for recreation or by providing in-home care while caregivers take a break or go on vacation. Rounding out the service, Outreach staff may also visit members at home to assist with basic living skills.
