As Community Venture's day programs grew, so did our awareness that some day program members needed better options when it came to the other half of their lives. In 1999 we recognized that it was time to start a new residential program. After a year of hard work, many phone calls, and long hours, Community Venture was pleased to open its first home on October 4th, 2000.
Over the past few years we have grown to support ten members in four homes. Within the homes, we strive to reflect our touchstone value: to help people with intellectual disabilities live the best lives possible. We focus on teaching life skills as a way of fostering self esteem and a sense of independence.

Our name - Community Venture - reflects people's need for balance. While a safe and caring home is very important, there is more to life than work, and no one should live in isolation. We encourage and support community involvement; one of our goals is to help the members achieve the highest possible level of independence within their home and as part of their community.
Over the next two years, we look forward to expanding CV's Residential Services to include new homes in the East Kildonan area of Winnipeg. To find out more about Community Venture Residential, please contact our Residential Coordinator.
