This website is composed entirely of HyperText Mark-up Language (HTML) 4.01 and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) 2. If you don't know what that means, don't worry - you don't have to... However, you might like to know what it means to your web browser.
This site will look its very best in a browser capable of parsing and properly laying out the information contained in the above-mentioned code. These include Netscape 6 and higher, Opera 4 and higher, Mozilla, and our favourite, Firefox. Microsoft's Internet Explorer 5 and later versions support some web standards, but only to a limited degree. If you're using an older browser, you may wish to use one of the links on the right and download a new one.
But you don't have to. The nice thing for people with other browsers is that the information will be presented - relatively neatly - on ANY browser. That's important for people with text-only browsers, Braille readers, and other graphically limited devices.
Why is that important? Simple - we believe the World Wide Web should be for everyone, regardless of ability or technology. More information on this issue is available in the links on the left.
You may also be wondering why we don't use those handy "mailto:" links that automagically open an email composition window, or why the "@" signs in our email addresses are graphics. It's the same reason in both cases: spam, or UBE (Unsolicited Bulk Email). Spammers use robots called "address harvesters" to look for mailto links and text that looks like email addresses... and we don't like being spammed.
Oh, and the butterflies? Well, they're an ancient symbol of growth and transformation... and they're beautiful, too. All in all, we thought they capture something of what Community Venture is all about.
By the way, this site was designed and hand-coded by Community Venture's business manager, Courtney Welch. He likes feedback, so if there's something you like (or don't like) about the site, feel free to let him know!
Thanks for your interest. This link will take you back to our home page.
